Power, more virus ideas
Well during the course of the day I needed to go as far as calculating the amount of power that a rack may draw. I wouldn’t be suprised if a rack of disks pulls more current than this, but hey, it’s a start. Take a pSeries 570 - 4U, 1400W max. So you can put 10 of them in a standard 42U rack, that’s 14000W, now divide by 240W, that’s 58A. Split across 2 PDUs that’s probably going to be 2×32A. Double it for redundancy reasons and it’s 128A into a single rack. Yummy.
More thoughts about viruses. Default usernames/passwords, particularly on non-PC devices. I’m thinking routers, SAN switches, disk arrays, tape libraries, management cards, ADSL modems, databases, applications. Oh what _fun_ could be had (or havoc caused depending on your demeanor).
