FuseFS and xdelta/rsync
Whilst at work today I had a cunning plan, have a look at FuseFS and maybe implement a “diff” filesystem. I was originally thinking of rsync diffs (see rsync’s batch mode), but xdelta is probably an easier first fit (and would possibly work better).
There’s even Ruby bindings for FuseFS so I could do this as a “learn Ruby” exercise too. At the moment it gets added to the todo list.
Other thoughts I’ve had recently (uh oh) is that it would be nice if the wireless USB key for my wireless mouse clipped onto the mouse itself. There’s enough space under the mouse for it and would mean a smaller chance of losing it. Of course, that might be what they want to happen.
