avahi and how to stuff up networking

Copy protection
Well, oddly enough I think it sucks. Not the idea, just all the current implementations. I want to use data wherever I feel like it. Whether it’s ripping my CDs to .ogg for my mp3 player, or for my laptop, or to stream through the house, or perhaps encoding DVDs so I can watch them [...]

lastfm
Well it’s been a few days now and I still love lastfm. I’ve had one morning when it refused to stream at all. A few glitches network wise (I need to impose QoS – or preferably get a decent net link (512Kbps ATM)). A few rough edges overall, but a definite thumbs up

last.fm
last.fm is goodness. It’s basically a streaming radio station where it learns what songs you like (it can even hook into other music players) and “tunes you in” into a channel with songs it thinks you’d be interested. The interface is a fantastic exercise in simple design (basically like/skip/hate/stop). I wish there was a “pause” [...]
