avahi and how to stuff up networking

Look, if I wanted networking to be automatically configured, I’d ask for it. In fact, I do so I’ve setup dhcp etc. Now http://avahi.org“>avahi comes along and breaks everything.

So far I have my initial “WTF”, ifconfig shows the avahi address (you need to use “ip addr” to see that it’s just been added onto your existing network cards, not replaced them). I know have to tell kphone to ignore those addresses. It also stuffs up other things as my machine now replies as 169.254.12.xxx rather than 192.168.8.xxx as I have setup.

So basically it’s stuffing up all ACLs I have in place and god knows what else.

Thanks.
