A simple matter of…

Well after being without email for just about four full business days, it’s finally been resolved.
Last night about 10pm I received a phone call asking if the new mailbox was okay. Well I had a look via IMAP once they told me the details (it hadn’t been enabled) and it was _very_ unhappy. [...]

So, I woke up hoping that the corruption would have been fixed. But no Instead I got a reply saying that they hadn’t found any corruption (but they obviously havn’t tried IMAP….) They suggested two approaches:

reboot. disable anti-virus. create new profile
they’d recreate the account and merge the data back [...]

Well that’s had the desired effect, 30-40 mins after sending an email to Mr Greeson, he replies. An hour later and I receive a phone call which explains _why_ they want my password. Which is that their main support staff don’t have sufficient access rights. Alternatively it could be passed to someone [...]

Well it’s now been more than 24 hours and still no resolution.
Still no explanation or contact of any description from mi8.
So another 10min phonecall - it’s apparently with level 3 support since yesterday afternoon EST (which is where they are based). So I can’t even expect anyone to be working on it [...]

Well I’ve had enough - I don’t normally name names, but our Exchange (don’t ask) hosting provider has finally sufficiently narked me off. I’ll be looking to migrate in house (I was hoping to use open source software, but TBH even if we have to run Exchange it’d take less time and be less [...]

Munin does indeed look a bit simplist - it can do some warning, but that’s about it.
Just looking to see how well supported the packages are in Debian, only Zabbix is currently in - at 1.4.2 (right up to date) in unstable but an old 1.1.4 in etch (nothing in backports).

Today I sat down and finally got unicode working properly. It was working fine on my desktop, but not when I ssh’ed into another server. If I hit “AltGr P” then I was welcomed by a “beep” rather than an “þ” character. Running “locale” yielded these results:
