A simple matter of…

The time had come to add some more storage to my main server, since I wasn’t in a hurry I thought I’d recheck my normal procedure and as a result I’ve updated it a bit.
My typical disk layout uses Linux MD software RAID-1:

split each disk into 50MB partition for boot and everything else for LVM

Well I thought that Microsoft may buy Sun but it looks like IBM is in talks instead.
OTOH Microsoft do have a lot of cash in the bank…

As mentioned in my last post, I lost power earlier today. Rather embarrassingly, my main server (which runs _everything_) didn’t come back up cleanly. I’ve now applied my patch for an annoying delay on boot which saves a bit of time.

They _even_ have linux binaries “dpkg –force-architecture -i WorldOfGooDemo.1.40.deb” just worked on my box (yes, you need 32bit libraries installed but I already had the relevant ones installed).
Now how much of my life(time) do I want to spend playing it…
